Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands - Developer Diarty #3

New publicity stills of "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" Iheartjakemedia.com

In this latest developer diary for Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, you get a nice look at the Prince's new ability to control various elements. Gifted with powers by a Djinn named Razia, the Prince can control earth, wind, water, and fire.

Not just a killer R&B group, the powers are used both in puzzles and in combat. One use shows the Prince freezing waterfalls so he can wall run arosss them, or stopping water spouting from fountains to climb or swing. His wind power is shown for use in combat, picking up enemies and pulling them in before tossing them out in all directions.

Give it a "name": When it comes to getting a greenlight in Hollywood today, it's all about the name. If people remember the "Sex and the City" TV show, there's a built-in audience for the movie (May 27). "Marmaduke" (June 4) may be a bit on the obscure side for most children today, but parents who remember the comic strip could take their kids to the June 4 flick.
Whether the names "Prince of Persia" (May 28) and "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" (July 16) will pull in more dough than wholly original films about Persian princes and magic is anyone's guess, but this much is certain: From "Predators" (July 9) to "The Last Airbender" (July 2) to "The Karate Kid" and "The A-Team" (both June 11), everything old is new again. Amanda Seyfried excited about working with Catherine Hardwicke

Amanda Seyfried - (TRIBECA PORTRAITS 2010)

"Now that she’s been assured that “The Girl With the Red Riding Hood” would be no “Twilight”, Amanda Seyfried is all in for shooting the lead role in the “super sexy” retelling of the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale, directed by Catherine Hardwicke. But Seyfried, who will next be seen in the romantic flick “Letters to Juliet, admitted to feeling a bit intimidated by the news that Julie Christie and Gary Oldman are in talks to join the cast.

“[Oldman and Christie are] are in talks,” she told MTV News. “I mean, come on, that’s ridiculous. That’s amazing. And it’s final this week: They finalized the casting for my [one] love interest [to be played by Shiloh Fernandez] and they finalized the casting for my other love interest, [Max Irons].”

Seyfried is excited to begin working with Hardwicke when filming begins in July. “She is ridiculous,” she praised. “[She's got a] really cool vision.”

Still, the actress said that though she’d met Hardwicke before, she wasn’t about to jump into the project without making sure it was right for her. “I’m always kind of careful about what I choose,” Seyfried said. “I had known her kind of a little bit before, when I was dating Emile Hirsch, and I had been to her house before. That was years ago. And when I had met with her again, she talked about this movie. I completely fell in love with her idea and trusted her form that moment on, and I’m like, ‘Yeah, I’m down.’

Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning as Joan Jett & Cherie Currie in "The Runaways".

Q. And how did working with Kristen Stewart, who plays Joan Jett, enhance the film?
Dakota Fannning: It was unbelievable. She’s become one of my best friends and I think Joan and Cherie’s relationship is one, if not the most, important thing in the film. I couldn’t imagine going through this journey without her. It really was amazing and she was the perfect person to play Joan. It couldn’t have worked out better.
Dakota Fanning spotted arriving into LAX Airport in Los Angeles on 30th April 2010.

Q. What seems more fun? Being a rock star or a starlet?
Dakota Fanning: Being an actress to me is now kind of normal. It’s what I’ve done for so long and what I like to do. Being a rock star seems kind of scary. Kristen and I said that when you’re an actor you get to hide behind the role in a way. It’s not “you” you’re putting out there in the films. When you’re a rock star, you are putting yourself out there every night in your performances and that can be a scary thing. I could never sing as myself, but if I can hide behind a character, I can do it.

Jake Gyllenhaal: trying on a coat, that's what acting is

"On a recent trip to the Bay Area to promote the Disney adventure film, Gyllenhaal seem wide-eyed but also amused by his career detour into blockbuster madness. He grinned at more than 4,000 fans who cheered him at a pop-culture expo called WonderCon but also kept an ironic detachment from the scene; during a question-and-answer session a fan asked the actor what moment in history would he visit if he could turn back time (as his character in the movie can do), and after a pause he answered with a straight face: "I would go back and watch my birth."

"I actually jump out of a window and land on the back of my horse, just like in the old movies, Zorro-style," Gyllenhaal said with the expression of a teenager who just hopped off, like, the best roller coaster ever. It's no surprise the athletic actor, who was nominated for an Oscar for "Brokeback Mountain," finds himself going from indie-spirited work into the Comic-Con cinema zone; that's the template these days after the success of Johnny Depp, Robert Downey Jr., Christian Bale and Tobey Maguire in massive summer franchises.
"He's a big, robust guy, he's really a general, like how you imagine a D.W. Griffith might carry himself on the set," Gyllenhaal said. "He would use a bullhorn if you handed him one. He's got this bellowing, old-school British accent -- you hear him from behind the camera, 'That's smashing, Jake, smashing. Well done, my boy.' You're not living in 'The Sheltering Sky' but it's easy to pretend you were in this old British Empire moment."
"I grew up with filmmakers and I consider myself a filmmaker, sort of, but as an actor taking on a role I know that I'm just a piece of a situation. What I mean by that is you become part of the story that will be up there on the screen and that makes you want to try a really wide variety of situations. You try on a coat, you wear for it a while and you give it back. That's what acting is. I know this is going to sound simple or maybe even trite, but for a filmmaker there's a real devotion to the movie -- an investment -- but sometimes as an actor you just want to try something on." "While the Oscars and Golden Globes may be glam events, nothing can top the gorg gowns at the Met ball! The event isn’t until next week, (May 3, to be exact!), but news of what some celebs will be sporting is already starting to come out! The Gap, which is a major sponsor of the star-studded evening will also design dresses for the event, and believe it or not, this doesn’t mean gowns made of jersey and denim. The brand’s designer, Patrick Robinson, has teamed up with super talented designers to craft gowns for the big night! Although we’ll have to wait for the big night to see the actual designs, we do know which designers and celebs are paired up.

"Jake has been up in Montreal filming Source Code where Dunst was in town, prior to heading to the Tribeca Film Festival, where we must say, she's been looking fab.

Sources tell us Jake and Kirsten casually ran into each other a few times while they were out, and then possibly made it a more purposeful bump-in later on.

They seem to be on totally good terms".
