Holiday in Tenerife 1963

While John was off galavanting with Brian Epstein in Spain, Paul, George, and Ringo decided to take a well deserved vacation with Astrid Kirchherr and Klaus Voorman in Tenerife. Here are some of the pictures they took during that trip.

Happy Crimble!

The first Christmas Message The Beatles did back in 1963. I just lovelovelove their sense of humor.

All ready for the snow. I think this was taken on the set of The Beatles special chirstmas show/skits thingy they did every year or something like that (does this sentence even make sense?). Anyroad, I'm going to the snow tomorrow, so yeah, that's why I posted it.

Los Beatles in Spain

Part of The Beatles world tour in 1965 included a few concerts in Spain. Here's a report/newsreel footage of their stay. Yes it is in Spanish, but it's still worth a watch for the footage alone. I love John's Spaniard in the Works hat, Paul's winks at the camera, George gulping down his wine, and poor Ringo getting spalshed by wine.

And because it's sort of my "thing," here are some pictures that go along with the video.

Some more pictures with a Spanish vibe to them.

Interview: The Beatles 1965

When I'm down and feeling blue, one of the things I like to do to cheer myself up (or down) is watch Beatle interviews. So here are some excellent videos I found of random interviews with the Beatles in 1965 (one good-looking year for the boys, don't you agree?). Also included is the other, longer version of Ringo and Maureen's honeymoon interview that had been deleted, but it's here again! It's great to hear Mo talk, she has such a sweet voice.

The Apple Boutique: Where beautiful people can buy beautiful things

The first rockstars to open a clothing boutique were The Beatles in 1967. And like Themis, it seemed like a good idea at the time. But in the end it turned out to be disaster. At least it looked cool. Eric Clapton, Charlotte Martin, Keith and Kim Moon, along with other Swinging Londoners attended the grand opening.  Here's a video I found with some footage of the boutique's grand opening in color! And a picture of the inside of the boutique's dressing room area, in color as well!

p.s. Wouldn't it have been great if Jane had posed for the add with the other Beatle ladies instead of Jenny?  It would make the picture a lot more special and interesting I think. I wonder where she was, oh well, it's still such an iconic photograph.

Jenny Boyd worked at the boutique. And according to Wikipedia she, along with John's old Liverpool buddy Pete Shotton, managed the store.

Stamp Out The Beatles!

I've always wanted one of these cool Stamp Out The Beatles sweaters. As you can see, Brian was the first to sport the sweater, and I wonder if all four Fabs got one of their own. Or Brian simply gave it to George, who in turn lent it to Pattie (pictured with sister Jenny and Chris O'Dell at Friar Park), and from there it now belongs to Dhani (who wore the sweater, which turned out to be purple, to the rehearsals for the Concert For George. Then again, it might not even be the same sweater).  I wonder if the sweater had anything to do with Ringo's campaign to Stamp Out Detroit I saw in a youtube video that I'll post if I ever find it again.

Interview: The Beatles, Dallas 1964

An interview with The Beatles that I stumbled upon in the sometimes magical land of youtube. Once again, I've only seen pictures from that day. It looks like the interview was done backstage in the dressing room (where I dream to be). The interviewer asks the typical silly questions, ( I wonder if I could come up with better questions? Probably not, I'd be too busy freaking out, while trying to be cool at the same time, that I'm backstage with The Beatles!!) and as usual, the boys are their charming, witty, funny, oh-so-cute, selves.

Arriving in Dallas, TX, obviously, judging from the white cowboy hats.

Backstage antics, put on especially by The Beatles for a laugh.

I guess earlier that day, The Beatles decided that they wanted to have the real Texas Cowboy Experience (sounds like a band name doesn't it? Or something else...) and went horseback riding, cowboy hats and all.

*EDIT* So apparently these photos were not taken in Texas as I had assumed (i'm surprised nobody corrected me on this) but in some rich guy's ranch in Missouri. Oh well, the photos still have that western feel to them, so... since I love putting photos that match like this together, I'll leave them in the post.

Ooooh! A picture in color!  Now we can see the color (duh) of John's outfit.
I guess they decided to change their outfits, becauses it looks like these pictures were taken on the same day, don't they?
